About Us

SkySafari

Background:

Despite their best efforts, governments and nonprofits are losing ground in the war against poaching. Boosted by the $23B black market for goods like ivory, poaching has evolved into a refined and well-funded institution. The efficiency of their operations is brutal - between 2010 and 2012 alone, 100,000 elephants were killed in Africa. Over the last eight years, a quarter of the world’s population of rhinos has been killed in Southern Africa alone. If poaching rates continue, rhino and elephant will be extinct within the next ten years.

Problem:

The loss of these animals is devastating for the nations’ of Africa’s natural heritage and economies. Wildlife viewing tours, particularly for elephant and rhino, can bring up to $90 million and 5 million visitors to a country annually - creating jobs and investments in local communities.

Solution:
To support this industry, both anti-poaching rangers and safari companies rely on accurate animal locations to be successful. SkySafari will use drones and proprietary software to provide wildlife tracking services for these organizations. We generate revenue by selling daily information to tour operators, drastically enhancing their customers’ wildlife viewing experience by ensuring they see the most sought after species. We will then use the earnings generated to provide night time surveillance to rangers, increasing poacher detection and arrests.
